I haven't calibrated it yet so I can't vouch for its accuracy, but one nice feature is that the angle of the gnomon can be adjusted independently of the base, so you don't have to be too fussy about where to put it. It's pretty solid, looks nice, and I think it should weather well even outside in lots of rain (I live in Oregon). This sundial would not look on the ground, however: it's too small and doesn't have the proper base for being on the ground. You should plan to mount it either on a pedestal or a table (or large rock or whatever). I just had one minor complaint: the gnomon (an 'arrow') is a little too loose in its mount and slips down, so the back points of the 'arrowhead' wind up resting against the mount instead of sitting an inch or so above it (which would look a bit better).
